4 Questions to Ask Your Buick Service Mechanic
How can you make sure you’re getting the right Buick service for your needs? Start by asking the right questions when you visit your mechanic.
To help you out, our dealers at McGuire Buick GMC compiled four of the most common questions our service pros receive so you're prepared before your visit.
How Important is Routine Service?
Any mechanic will tell you that regularly scheduled maintenance is vital for your vehicle's health and longevity. Diligently sticking to a service schedule will ensure that your car runs its best for many years to come.
Which Service Tasks are the Most Important?
All service tasks are important, but some should take precedence over others. Oil changes are perfect examples. Oil is a crucial component of your engine because it lubricates various parts as they move. Over time, however, oil gets old and less efficient, which is why it needs to be changed often.
Other key service tasks include:
- Tire rotations
- Brake inspections
- Battery checks
- Filter replacements
- Fluid top-offs
How Often Should I Get My Oil Changed?
Most service experts will tell you that oil changes are needed every 3,000 miles or so, but that number has changed over the years. Depending on the type of oil you use, you may not need to swap it out until you reach the 10,000-mile mark. However, the general recommendation is between 3,000 and 6,000 miles.
If you typically drive in dry or dusty conditions, you will probably need to change your oil sooner rather than later. The big caveat, however, is that no matter how much you drive, you should still get your oil changed at least twice per year.
Do You Have Service Specials?
Most routine maintenance is generally inexpensive, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be looking for ways to save money. Here at McGuire Buick GMC near Fairfield, we aim to cut costs in any way we can, which is why we always offer service specials. This could include discounts on oil changes, wheel alignments, new windshield wipers, and much more.
